Having grown up here in Westerville, I can say that this wonderful community just keeps getting better and better! Westerville was ranked Number 15 in the Top 100 list of America’s “BEST PLACES TO LIVE” by MONEY magazine. We are proud of our lovely city and with so many interesting things to do and see (much of it very affordable or FREE), why not take a short trip to visit?
Whether you travel for business or to visit family and friends, our prime location in the heart of Olde Westerville permits you to take a stroll uptown, on campus or through the beautiful historic neighborhoods.
Here are just a few items to wet your interest:
Westerville boasts 46 parks with over 500 acres of open space. Bring your gear and fish in Otterbein Lake, enjoy a scenic walk, an invigorating run or cycling on 26 miles of paths and trails - some of which is part of the Ohio to Erie Trail. For additional fitness activities- we have the famous Yoga Factory (www.theyogafactory.com) and the Tai Chi Society - which offer a variety of classes. The Westerville Community center offers a short term pass for those who like to add swimming and indoor running to their work out. Ask me about getting a pass for your visit here or visit their web site at (www.westerville.org).
As a gardening enthusiast I must strongly recommend Inniswood Gardens (www.inniswood.org) which features over 2,000 species of plants on 121 acres of well tended gardens and natural woodland setting. The rose gardens are phenomenal this summer! We also count 25 golf courses or ranges within a 20 minute drive-bring your clubs and we can set up tee times.
Uptown Westerville merchants (www.uptownmerchants.com) are just a block away and offer a large variety: art galleries, wine shop, vintage clothing, antiques, garden art, Amish furniture, specialty pet gifts - you name it and we can help you find it! Every fourth Friday of the month, enjoy our uptown street festival with music, entertainment and activities for all!
For those who REALLY love to shop - Polaris Fashion Place (www.polarisfashionplace.com) and Easton Towne Center (www.eastontowncenter.com) sit just a few miles away. Plenty of stores, restaurants and valet parking too!
Looking to relax? We have you covered! In the Bag Massage is not far away. Get a relaxing one hour massage and walk out feeling great (www.inthebagmassage.com).
Dining uptown at Jimmy V’s, Pasquale’s Pizzeria, The Old Bag of Nails, the Thai Grille, The Blue Turtle Tea Company and the Westerville Grill offer a wide range of menus, most available through the uptown merchants web site listed above. A total of 22 local eateries guarantee everyone can find a favorite! Coffee spots abound and most places offer outdoor seating, weather permitting. The best part is that once you arrive at the inn, you can walk to all of these!
Come to see professional quality theater at Otterbein’s Department of Theater and Dance or sit outside and watch a movie classic under the stars at Everal Barn. Sundays is music in the park with the local symphony or other musical groups.
Year round, Westerville and Otterbein University provide a wide assortment of activities and events going on in town: check out the calendar of events on the Visitor’s and Convention Bureau web site (www.visitwesterville.org) and at Otterbein (www.otterbein.edu).
